Xperia 1 VI

NEW

Support your creativity with a wide range of focal lengths

On top of our standard 16 mm and 24 mm, the Xperia 1 VI includes a 48 mm focal length and a new extended 85-170 mm optical telephoto lens, with real optical zoom for optimal image quality throughout its range and macro capability, for even more creative freedom.

Perfect portrait photography

The 85 mm focal length is ideal for professional portraits, capturing faces without distortion. Combined with the advanced Xperia bokeh function and AI, it allows you to take beautiful portraits with faithful skin tones.

New true optical zoom lens

With the new extended 85-170 mm optical telephoto lens, the Xperia 1 VI offers a true optical zoom between 85 mm and 170 mm (3.5 to 7.1x equivalent) for undegraded images at every focal length. Combined with optical stabilisation and Real-time Eye AF and tracking0, it's ideal for portraits with optical bokeh.

This video clip demonstrates the new extended 85-170 mm optical telephoto lens on the Xperia 1 VI.

The video opens with a close-up of the camera on the rear of the Xperia, then transitioning to zoom into a graphical simulation of the 85-170 mm lens structure. The lens elements are mounted adjacent to a prism, allowing them to spread sideways through the slim device and physically move to deliver optical image quality at all focal lengths.

The screen splits, allowing us to see the lens movement and resulting portrait shots of a woman beside a lake, pausing briefly at 85 mm, 125 mm, 170 mm focal lengths.

The shot returns full screen to the lens structure and graphically demonstrates how light is bent through the prism to deliver this technical innovation.

Create content with a choice of lenses

The camera array includes a wide-angle 24 mm lens paired with the Exmor T™ for mobile sensor, a new 48 mm focal length, an ultra-wide 16 mm lens, and a new extended 85-170 mm optical telephoto lens. All offer 4K HDR 120fps video recording01 , Real-time Eye AF3, Real-time tracking3 and ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating, which contributes to the superior optical quality of images by minimizing unwanted lens effects such as reflections. A 12MP front camera completes the camera set-up.

Capture more light than ever
Developed by Sony, the Exmor T™ for mobile sensor on the Xperia 1 VI, together with AI processing, delivers picture quality equivalent to full-frame cameras with less noise and wider dynamic range in low light4 and videos with cinematic colour expression.

Amazing shots with Telephoto macro

The new telephoto lens expands your creative possibilities with unique tele-macro capability for photos and videos. Unlike other devices that use the wide-angle for macro shots, requiring you to get very close to the subject, the Xperia 1 VI uses the telephoto, so you don't need to get too close, and in addition it brings a beautiful bokeh, a solution that's unique to Xperia 1 VI.

Improved video HDR

Video HDR performance has been further improved, so it’s now possible to shoot with an even wider dynamic range – to capture your world exactly as you see it. And, with the stunning display, you can see this effect in the preview before shooting.

Shoot in full 48MP resolution

The high-resolution sensor lets you capture still images at up to 48MP using the main (24 mm) camera for astonishingly detailed landscapes0.

Record in cinematic 4K HDR 120fps

The Xperia 1 VI is capable of shooting at a stunning 4K 120fps with all main cameras, and includes the acclaimed S-Cinetone™ colour profile, developed for our professional Cinema Line and Alpha cameras0.

This video clip demonstrates the colour and tone available to the Xperia 1 VI using the S-Cinetone for mobile picture profile and slow motion 4K 120fps video capture.

A tight shot of a woman smiling while looking away from the camera is played back in slow motion. A caption reads S-Cinetone for mobile over the shot, which is focused on her face but with a soft bokeh so the long grass in the foreground and trees in the background appear defocused. A breeze blows her hair and the grass. Her skin has a smooth and natural tone and colour, which, combined with the slow motion, gives the video a highly cinematic look. The caption changes to 4K 120fps Slow Motion as she runs her hand through her hair.

Simple and easy to use

We’ve integrated three camera apps into one, making the camera simple and easy to use. A simple swiping motion takes you through Photo, Bokeh, Video, Slow-motion and more. Pro Photo and Pro Video are available for creators who want to take complete control of the details.

Professional technology from Alpha cameras

The Xperia 1 VI was co-developed with the engineers behind the latest Alpha series cameras, renowned for their industry-leading autofocus technology, and with input from professional photographers, who helped tune the technology and refine the photographic experience. And just as Alpha photographers expect the optimum performance with every lens, the Xperia 1 VI offers the same AF capabilities across all the main lenses.

More intelligent and reliable auto-focus

For greater accuracy, the 24 mm camera sensor has 399 auto-focus points. With ‘Object tracking’ you can select an object by touching it on the screen, then the camera will track it for you. The new auto-focus human pose estimation AI technology doesn't just recognise the face and eyes as on previous models, but also the body and head position. With accurate whole-body tracking, you can precisely focus on faces and eyes, even with dynamic subjects0.

Let Xperia and your Alpha work together

Combine Xperia with your Alpha camera for an effortless creative experience. You can control Alpha from your Xperia and use it as an external monitor or share your Alpha photos online within moments of shooting them.
